Converted Stable Block Cottage

Reconfiguring and renovating the downstairs of a tired cottage into a colourful and playful classic contemporary home.

Cassandra Chessum Interior Design (CCID) recently completed a fabulously fun and playful project for a client in Stevenstone, Devon. CCID worked closely with the client to transform her cottage, a converted stable block, into a colourful and playful classic contemporary home.

We reconfigured the downstairs to create a dedicated dining room and studio for our client, who is an artist and loves to entertain. We designed all the rooms downstairs, including the living room, dining room and study / studio.

The cottage looks out across a beautiful garden, bursting with flora and fauna, including the ivy-covered remains of the old derelict Manor House. This was an excellent source of inspiration for the design style, which is classic contemporary with a focus on florals.

Cassie has helped me transform my dated and dysfunctional cottage. She has been excellent throughout, understanding exactly where I was coming from, communicating well and taking me through a range of choices with sensitivity and flair. The outcome is a fresh and delightful home, far more stimulating and beautiful than I had anticipated, but at the same time it is exactly what I wanted.
